Calcium Carbonate Antacids
If you take a calcium carbonate based antacid like TUMS, you get safe heartburn relief with the added bonus of calcium. When you're pregnant you need as much as 1,300mg of elemental calcium per day. The good news is that the calcium in TUMS has been shown to help reduce the risk of pre-eclampsia (sometimes called toxemia), especially in women with low calcium intake.
The benefits of a calcium supplement are not limited to pregnancy. Continued use of a product like TUMS is a great way to supplement your everyday calcium needs.

Antacid
Antacids can provide fast, safe relief for your pregnancy heartburn.
If you're pregnant, you may want to consult with your doctor before using antacids containing sodium bicarbonate. Also be sure to take antacids at a different time than you take iron supplements.

Lifestyle & Diet Management
Altering your diet or adjusting your lifestyle should be the first thing you try when looking to manage your pregnancy heartburn.

H2 Blockers
Consult your physician prior to using H2 Blocker products.

PPI
Most of the time, using a PPI is avoided when pregnant. However, if your heartburn can't be controlled any other way, you may want to discuss PPI use with your doctor.
Consult your doctor before using a PPI if you are pregnant or considering getting pregnant. They may not all be safe in pregnancy.
